Announcement The following announcement was made at the 11:00am worship service on April 13, 2008 concerning the appointment of our new pastor:
The Bishop and Cabinet have been in appointive session during the past week, praying and working together toward the most faithful configuration of clergy leadership for the churches of the Mississippi Conference. As your Lay Leader and a member of the PPR Committee, I would like to share with you all the appointment by Bishop Hope Morgan Ward of Ronnie Smith as pastor of our church/charge, effective June 29, 2008. We give thanks for the leadership of our current pastor, Diane Woodall, and pray God's blessings upon her in the move to a new place of leadership in our annual conference. Bishop Ward extends her prayers and the prayers of the Cabinet during this time of transition and offers this prayer to us for this moment in the life of our church: Loving God, we give thanks to you, remembering your creative energy at work in the world. You are the God of all that has been, all that is, and all that will be. We ask for your peace and your power as we enter into this time of transition. We give thanks for pastoral leadership, particularly the gifts of Diane Woodall, in this place and the gifts of Ronnie Smith, who will soon come to lead us. Calm our spirits, lift our vision, and grant to us courage so that we might live this day in unity and strength, all to the glory of Jesus Christ, the Lord of the Church. We offer this prayer through the abiding presence of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
